I have mentioned some of my scholarship background in one of my blogs called "Missing Old Days". But I would love to share my experience of HOW LONG IT TAKES to know the results.

How Long Did It Take To Know The Results Of My Scholarship Applications?

If you are looking for scholarship in China, then this content is good for you. Chinese Government provides many types of scholarship for international students, both full and partial.

In early 2016, I decided to apply for Chinese scholarship. Without hesitated, I checked for information online here and there, randomly. Fortunately, my sister also helped me with the applications. She recommended me the universities in Yunnan province, China. Unfortunately, I knew that I was not selected for all 3 universities there. I started to feel hopeless and desperate.

Life is always up and down in just a second.

Never lose hope. I and my sister decided to search for other universities besides universities in Yunnan province.

After some days, we chose 1 university in Sichuan province and another 1 in Jiangsu province.

I was rejected again for Sichuan province. I didn’t even receive an email from the university. I was so sad and desperate again.

Life is so cruel sometimes, isn’t it?

I didn’t want to wait another year to re-apply scholarship. I really wanted to study abroad that time because working life was so tired and boring at the same time. I wanted to refresh my mind and to seek for something new in life.

While I knew that it’s difficult for me to travel abroad by using my own money because I didn’t even have $500 in my hand. How can I book air ticket without money? Therefore, the only way to travel abroad for me was only to get scholarship abroad.

This picture I took at Southeast University since 2017. It is my university at Jiu Long Hu campus in Naning.

Life is always about learning new things. So, don’t fear to fly away from your comfort zone.

Give your life a short dream abroad and let this dream to guide you to a better world you always wish to live in but let me remind you after you studied abroad your life will be 1) learn to be independent and 2) it will be your saddest dream in life. You need to get ready for that. Still want to study abroad? It’s your choice but no worries. You can manage it well.

Get back to my scholarship journey.

At the end of April, 2016, I received an email from a university that I applied in Jiangsu province. It was a wonderful day in my life. Dream came true? In the email mentioned that I passed first round.

I could breathe then. At least I received a reply email from one university among 8 universities.

Why 8 universities?

Well, I applied for 3 universities via online for Yunnan province and another 3 universities via Chinese Embassy in Cambodia. I already forgot which provinces I applied for via Chinese Embassy. It’s been a long time.

Another 2 universities were in Sichuan and Jiangsu provinces as I mentioned above.

Noted that, before 2017 or 2018 we can apply for as many universities as we wanted. This policy was changed that a student can apply or select only 3 universities a year. So, we have to choose the good universities that right to our study background. Otherwise, we will be rejected and need to wait till next year to re-apply.

Make sure we have all the requirements as required by the universities that we choose to apply. We will have high opportunity if we provide them the complete requirements. Make sure to read carefully the requirements.

I waited and waited till July, 2016. I didn’t receive any other emails from that university in Jiangsu province. I thought I was rejected again. My dream to study abroad flow away through the window.

I decided to send email to them to make sure if I was rejected. A few days later, I received the reply email from them. I was so nervous. In my mind “Oh God! Please have mercy on me.”

Finally, I got full scholarship. My dream flow back to me and I got ready for my flight.

Actually I was so worry about my life in China. What happen to me after I left home where I always stayed with my family since I was born? And my English was very poor at that time. Life started to be scary. Still, I determined to fly away from my comfort zone and learned to live independently for 2 years. In 2018, I graduated from Southeast University.

It’s unbelievable that that 2 years were so fast. I spent 2 years and came back home with just a piece of paper and sadness.

That’s all about my life experiences of applying for full scholarship.
